This August, Brazil and Argentina will be even closer to Israel, with the most anticipated tour of the year. Conducted by renowned Maestro Yeruham Scharovsky, the Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra will perform on August 28 a Benefit Concert at Sala São Paulo, organized by the Congregação Israelita Paulista (CIP).
The prodigy soloist Danielle Akta will be accompanied by a group of 72 musicians. In 2016, when Danielle was just 19 years old, she was named by the Daily Gazette as one of the top 10 classical music artists.
PROGRAM
The program includes elements of Brazilian culture, with the Overture of the Opera “O Guarani”, by Carlos Gomes, based on the novel by José de Alencar. Culture, whether through literature or music, has the power to shorten borders and bring people together. Also, part of the program “Concerto for Cello and Orchestra by Elgar and Symphony N° 4, in F minor, by Tchaikovsky.
Before arriving in Brazil, the Orchestra will arrive on the continent via Argentina, where it will have a unique performance at Teatro Colon, on August 22nd. In Brazil, in addition to the masterful exhibition at Sala São Paulo on August 28, the same program will also be presented on August 27 at 8 pm at the Castro Mendes Theater in Campinas and on August 30 at 8 pm, at Theatro Pedro II, in Ribeirão Preto.
MASTERCLASS INÉDITA
On August 29, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am, Maestro Sharovsky and soloist Danielle Akta, accompanied by some musicians from the Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra, will perform an unprecedented masterclass with members of the Heliópolis Symphonic Orchestra, the first in the world in a favela and the Instituto Baccarelli, in São Paulo.

Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra
The Jerusalem Symphonic Orchestra (JSO) was founded in 1930 as the Orchestra of the Palestinian Broadcasting Service, and became the Israel Radio Orchestra from 1948, the date of independence from the Jewish State.
It adopted its current name in the 1970s. JSO tours Europe and the US, performing in concert halls such as the Musikverein in Vienna, the Philharmonie in Cologne and theaters in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Lucerne, Carnegie Hall in New York and the Colon of Buenos Aires.
Conductor Yeruham Scharovsky
Conductor Yeruham Scharovsky began his musical training in his native Argentina. In the 1970s, he moved to Israel after winning a scholarship from the “Rubin Higher Academy of Music” in Jerusalem.
In 1990 he was chosen by Zubin Mehta to receive the award for “Young Artist of the Year”, and consequently conducted the Gala Concert of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1991, he was the first Israeli conductor to be invited to conduct the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra on a concert tour of the former Soviet Union.
Between 1991 and 1995 he was Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Ra’anana Symphony in Israel and, between 1998 and 2004, of the Brazilian Symphonic Orchestra (OSB), in Rio de Janeiro, where he was the creator and founder of the Brazilian Youth Symphonic Orchestra, in 1999, receiving in 2003 the title of “Honorary Citizen of Rio de Janeiro” for his artistic, social and cultural contribution.
Throughout his career, Scharovsky has conducted more than 50 outstanding orchestras in more than 20 countries, in addition to having developed vast social activities and in the field of Music Education.
Soloist Danielle Akta
Praised by music critics around the world and regarded as one of the top young cellist prodigies, Israeli Danielle Akta was named by the Daily Gazette as one of the Top 10 Classical Music Artists in 2016 and won the “Critic’s Choice” in classical music by the Daily Gazette. Times Union in the same year.
A fellow of the Vladimir Spivakov International Foundation of Russia, she has also received the 2016 ‘Oleg Yankovsky’ Prize for Artistic Discovery, the “Young Artist” Prize, in addition to the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship with Distinction since 2013, and the Wolfgang Laufer Scholarship. Cello Memorial for Exceptional Merit. Born in 2002 into a family of musicians, Danielle plays an Enrico Orselli cello graciously placed at her disposal by Dr. Moshe Kantor through the Vladimir Spivakov International Foundation.
