At the end of June, the leadership of the Union for Reform Judaism in Latin America (UJR-AmLat) participated in Darkeinu, the regional conference of the European Union for Progressive Judaism (EUPJ), held in London.
Representing UJR-AmLat were President Flavio Levi Moreira, Executive Director David Britva Beraha, and Director Berenice Arce, strengthening the ties between Latin America, Europe, and other regions of the Progressive Jewish movement.
One of the highlights of the gathering was the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ) at the historic Liberal Jewish Synagogue in London, where the WUPJ was founded in 1926. Marking this milestone in the very place where the organization began made the celebration especially meaningful for participants from around the world.
The conference also featured sessions on the history and future of the WUPJ, as well as discussions about the challenges and opportunities facing Jewish communities across Europe. It also provided an opportunity to reconnect with friends, colleagues, and alumni of the Reform Rabbinic Institute, while strengthening relationships with leaders from the movement’s different regions.
