Regional leadership

The Board of Directors represents a node of the UJR-AmLat and is responsible for the government of the organization. Is in charge of the management of the UJR-AmLat, the definition of the goals, mission and vision of the organization, makes short-, medium-, and long-term plans and is the organ which represents UJR-AmLat to the wider community.

PRESIDENTS
Flavio Levi Moreira
Presidente

Flavio Levi Moreira (1981), holds a degree in Business Administration and a postgraduate degree in Economics, both from FGV-SP. He has been involved in the startup and venture capital market for the past 20 years as an entrepreneur and investor, serving as CFO, COO, and community manager.
In his voluntary life, he has held positions as Chanich, Madrich, Director, and Counselor at CIP (Congregação Israelita Paulista) and served as Treasurer of UJR-AmLat for over a decade before assuming the role of President.
He is the father of Felipe and Rafael and is married to Renata. He loves to travel, engage in sports, and listen to music

Miriam Vasserman
1ª Vice-presidente

Miriam Vasserman (1959), graduated in Economics from PUC-SP and holds a postgraduate degree in Marketing from FGV-SP. She worked in the hotel industry and as an entrepreneur, she founded Mivass Corporate Events, an organisation specialising in events for corporations and NGOs.
In her community work, she serves as Vice President of the Jewish Federation of the State of São Paulo (Fisesp) and is the founder and coordinator of the Women’s Empowerment and Leadership Group. In 2004, she inaugurated the World Union for Progressive Judaism Latin America, now UJR-AmLat, where she served as president for two terms and continues to be part of the executive board to this day. She was Vice President of the Congregação Israelita Paulista and has been involved in various directorial roles; currently, she is a member of the Deliberative Council.
Married to Itche, they have built a beautiful family together with their children Ariela, Ilan, their respective spouses, and grandchildren. Her personal interests include running, participating in marathons, traveling, and delighting in gathering family and friends.

Adrian Sucari
2º Vice-presidente

Adrian Gustavo Sucari (1958) graduated in Business Organization from the Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (UADE), is married to Carolina Baert, and father to Tobias, Ivan, and Dante. Professionally, he devoted himself to the Auto Parts Industry and currently focuses on real estate developments in Logistics and Housing.
In community life, he was a founding member and President of Judaica Norte, a member of the Fundación Judaica board, and recently assumed the role of President of the Reform Rabbinical Institute.

DIRECTORS
Melina Sternberg
Diretora de Comunicação

Melina Sternberg is a Communication professional aiming to maximize her impact as a young Jewish leader in Latin America. She is a journalist (Cásper Líbero) and holds a Masters degree in Organizational Leadership and Innovation (Zelikow School of Jewish Nonprofit Management / HUC-JIR) and in Communication and Semiotics (PUC-SP). She has held leadership positions in pioneering startups in the EdTech market. In 2015, she co-founded the startup Mira Educação. She was a chanicha and madricha at Chazit Hanoar Hadrom Americait São Paulo and was part of the first cohort of Shidrug (CIP / Arymax). She was part of the internship program at Conib and participated in community projects at the Jewish Agency and CIP, where she worked as Communications Coordinator between 2019 and 2023.

Rabina Kelita Cohen
Diretora de Conteúdo

Kelita Cohen (1977), ordained rabbi by the Reform Rabbinical Institute in 2023, is a psychologist with a PhD in psychology in the field of human development processes and education (UnB). She works at the Congregação Israelita Paulista (CIP), serving as the executive director of the Jewish Academy, their department for adult continuing education.

She was selected to participate in the community leadership program conducted by Insper (2014) at the initiative of CONIB; she has been a fellow of the NGF program of the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture (MFJC) since 2016; an alumna of the Beutel Seminar for Progressive Jewish Leadership (2018), offered by the WUPJ; and the Wilkenfeld Seminar (2019), offered by Women for Reform Judaism (WRJ).

She has been involved in community life for over a decade, volunteering in the Religious Affairs Commission of the Associação Cultural Israelita de Brasília (ACIB) and serving as the communications director of UJR-AmLat between 2017 and 2020. She has been Brazil’s ambassador to the Latin American Women’s Network of the Latin American Jewish Congress since 2021.

Mother of Yehuda (12) and Raphael (9), married to Salomão, she currently lives with her family in São Paulo. A Zionist, community activist, and advocate for human rights, she loves to travel, read, and write.

Abrahão Dejtiar
Diretor Financeiro

Abrahão Israel Dejtiar (1985) é formado em engenharia de produção pela Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie com MBA em Inteligência de Mercado pela FIA. 

Atua como executivo em finanças no mercado imobiliário, com experiência progressiva em gestão de operações e, consultoria estratégica nos mercados de agro, ambiental, mercado de capitais em operações de crédito estruturado e varejo. 

Na vida voluntária, foi Chanich, Madrich, Diretor Financeiro e Conselheiro Jovem da CIP (Congregação Israelita Paulista). 

É pai do Benjamin, e casado com a Alessandra. Adora pedalar, praticar Muay Thai e frequentar shows de músicas e festivais.

Patricia Holzman
Diretora de Comunidades Hispanohablantes

Patricia Holzman is a Certified Public Accountant and a proud mother of Alan and Ryan. She has always been inspired by her Jewish heritage, so much so that thirty years ago she was involved in founding the Arlene Fern School alongside a group of peers and under the guidance of Rabbi Sergio Bergman. Her commitment to the Jewish community led her to volunteer, holding various positions in different organisations within the Red Judaica, such as the Arlene Fern School, the NCI – Emanu El Community, Templo Libertad, Colonia Avigdor, among others.

She participated in the UJR-AmLat regional meetings since its inception as well as attended two Connections events organised by the WUPJ.

In addition to her passion for contributing to the community, she also ventured into Argentine politics, where she served as Chief of Staff at the Ministry of Environment between 2015 and 2019.

Since 2020, she has been serving as the Executive Director of the Fundación Judaica.

Karina Stange Calandrin
Presidente do Arzenu Brasil

Karina Stange Calandrin (1993), a PhD and master in International Relations from the San Tiago Dantas Postgraduate Program (Unesp, Unicamp, and PUC-SP), also holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from FAAP. Currently, she is a post-doctoral researcher at the Institute of International Relations at USP. She was a visiting researcher at the University of Haifa in Israel. She is a university professor and academic advisor at the Brazil-Israel Institute.

In community life, she is currently the chair of Arzenu Brazil, having also served as a madrichá for Taglit and coordinator of the Knesset Project with the Jewish Agency.

Miriam Olchansky
Diretora Adjunta

Miriam Olchansky (1958) holds a degree in Psychopedagogy and a Masters in Nonprofit Organizations. She chose to volunteer at the Fundación Judaica 22 years ago, where she worked in the areas of social action and communication. Currently, she is the President of the NCI – Emanu El Community and Secretary of the Fundación Judaica. She collaborated for several years with the Communication team of the UJR-AmLat and participated in the executive board. She attended various UJR-AmLat and WUPJ congresses, as well as the Wilkenfeld 2017 and Beutel 2023 seminars. She is the mother of Jonathan and Mijal, has 3 grandchildren who are her rays of sunshine: Piero León, Manuel, and Rafael, and is in a relationship with Daniel. Her favourite sport is tennis, and she had the luck and honour of representing Argentina multiple times in the International Maccabiah Games in Israel.

David Britva Beraha
Diretor Executivo

David Britva Beraha graduated in Economics from USP and has a Master’s degree from the Zelikow School of Jewish Nonprofit Management (HUC-JIR). He has been working at UJR-AmLat since 2020.

As a volunteer, he was a member of the youth movement Avanhandava and volunteered in the Brazilian and worldwide Scouting movement, participating in various international congresses and events as a Brazilian representative. He also served as the vice-president of the International Forum of Jewish Scouts (IFJS). He was a member of the Lauder Fellowship and is currently a member of the Jewish Diplomatic Corps Academy of the World Jewish Congress.
