Shabbat Chayei Sarah in Maringá celebrates Adult B’Mitzvah and strengthens community

Date: November 15, 2025 — Shabbat Chayei Sarah

The Beit Tikvá community (Maringá–PR) experienced a particularly meaningful Shabbat with the presence of David Britva Beraha, executive director of UJR-AmLat, and Rabbi Pablo Schejtman, in a weekend marked by Adult B’Mitzvah celebrations and the strength of progressive Judaism in small communities.

On Friday evening (11/14), during Kabbalat Shabbat, David delivered an inspiring message emphasizing the strategic and spiritual importance of small communities within UJR-AmLat. He expressed his joy at visiting Beit Tikvá, learning firsthand about its challenges and opportunities, and highlighted the community’s continued participation in the Adult B’Mitzvah course, recalling previous students from Maringá.

On Saturday, Shabbat gained even deeper meaning as, during the service led by Rabbi Pablo Schejtman and Beit Tikvá’s chazzan and president, Thiago Ramari, the aliot of students Gilberto Ribeiro, Charlanne Piovezan, Cristiane Vilela and Damaris Doro were called — marking important milestones in their Adult B’Mitzvah journey and reinforcing their commitment to Jewish learning, spirituality, and community belonging.
