In September of this year, the Jewish community of Recife received a visit from the president of the UJR-AmLat, Raul Gottlieb. During his visit to the Recife community, the president was able to talk to the main leaders of the institutions present in the Jewish life of the city, mainly linked to the local federation and reaffirming the commitment to bring a meaningful Jewish life and linked to the values of a plural and progressive Judaism. At the end of the visit, he gave a lecture at the Kahal Zur Israel Synagogue museum presenting the chumash Plaut, recently published in Portuguese in Brazil with progressive commentary and essays.
The UJR-Amlat has also been present at Associação Religiosa Israelita (ARI) of Rio de Janeiro. With a commentary on parashat Nitzavim, executive director David Britva Beraha brought a reflection on what it means to be community and to be in community, supporting each other, congregating and directing efforts towards a common good.
The UJR-AmLat guarantees direct contact with its communities, enabling the development of a reformist and meaningful Jewish life.
