On January 20th, Sociedade Israelita do Ceará, Sinagoga Beit Yaakov, in Brazil, held a special Kabbalat Shabbat, totally officialized by the young people of the community. In an emotional and meaningful evening, young people aged 13 to 26 officiated the entire ceremony, leading the lighting of candles, brachot, shirim, bringing comments from the week’s Parshah and ending with kiddush.

“They mobilized for a very special night for our kehilá” says Simone Lafer, vice-president of SIC. “A demonstration of everything that was planted and sown in the education of our young people. They are the future of SIC”.

The UJR-AmLat celebrates with the community this very special moment that demonstrates the life and continuity of the local Judaism built by the youth. Here’s to more moments like this around the Jewish world!
